How difficult it is for a non-Bumiputra to get a loan from bank to start a business in Malaysia? Even if I do manage to get it, do you think that Malaysia's economic will do well next year ahead? I'm planning to start a business that has just emerged in the Malaysian market, and from what I've researched, it is something that is much sought after, but I have this doubt and dilemma. Help me.

Reply:The most common type of lender is the commercial bank, credit union, savings and loan companies, or investment companies. These lenders offer business loans, however, often times these loans must be secured. This could mean offering up your personal assets as collateral. Although, the business is yours to do with%26lt;!--what you want, these loans are very risky to any un-established business. And that’s assuming you qualify. Unsecured loans, usually less than $100,000, are available to business owners based upon his or her personal credit history.

Commercial banks may also request that a business have a co-signer or guarantor. This may mean finding a financial partner or checking into the various types of small business loans available through the federal government. Women and minorities have an even wider selection of entities--%26gt;willing to loan them business capital. Organizations such as the Women’s Business Ownership, Women Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century, and several others cater to lending money to women that wish to start-up a business, still others actually guarantee them business loans.
Reply:Principally the loan which eases SME start up is opened for every Malaysian. Anyway, i bet you are aware of the scheme is abused, and it will be readily difficult for non-bumis to grab the loan from respective FIs.
Nevertheless, it is worth to have a try. The following sources might help:

Back to the enquiry of economy situation, though Malaysia is in chaos following recent politic uncertainties as well as global economic slowdown and growing world inflation pressure, i am convinced that Malaysia does offer a pretty good fundamental for new venture of small business. In spite of negative factors, if you have faith that your deliverable will be making an impact in Malaysia Market, be dare to work it out.
Sometimes, you need to have balls to roll out the play.
Happy planning, a future entrepreneur. All the best ya!
Reply:Are you a foreigner? The Bank in Malaysia does not differentiate if you are a bumiputra or not.
Unless your business required you to deal with Government project. Then the issue of non-Bumiputra should be weighted carefully.
As an entrepreneur, you should know best how to take risk in whatever economic situation. Have you heard the Malaysian businessman build his business in Bosnia, a war torn country? I mea successfully... And the CEO of AirAsia, Datuk Tony bought an ailing company and started with 2 aircraft?
Here, I leave you some good referances for your perusal.
